Sally Anne (Baggy) is Christened!.Sally Anne inspecting her namesake.

Wednesday, October 29, 2003. The "Sally Anne", (B-796), is christened in Cowes, England. Present amongst the esteemed guests was the major contributor for Kinsale's Lifeboat - Sally Anne Odell, or Baggy as she is known to her friends. Notice this acknowledgement beneath the boat's name!

To represent the Kinsale Lifeboat were crewman Nicky Searls (jnr) and launching authorityL to R: Sally Anne, Hugh Fogarty - president RNLI in Ireland, Mr Terry Johnson, Nicky Searls (jnr) David Tucker.

Of course it will be some months before this boat will arrive in Kinsale as it needs to be fully fitted out and tested. Interestingly, the Sally Anne is the very last of the Atlantic inshore lifeboats to be built.

Our current ILB, the venerable Vera Skilton, will continue to give sterling service Sally Anne at the helm of her namesake.until her arrival - as she has done throughout Ireland and the UK for many years now as something of a much loved hack.
