5th Years to the Rescue
28-Nov-2008: Displaying a recession-beating business acumen, three young Kinsale ladies not only managed a wonderful eveing out, but they also raised €1,175 toward the new Kinsale Lifeboat station. When Hannah McGovern, a student at Kinsale Community School, first approached us with her plans we were delighted. And we were amazed with, (and very grateful for), the outstanding donation to Kinsale RNLI. We let Hannah tell the story...
"After the success of last years fundraising dinner dance, myself and 2 other 5th year students, Roisín Daly and Amy Hegarty decided to give it a go ourselves. We composed a survey and handed it out to 4th, 5th and 6th year students asking their preference of theme, location and charity. The majority of people voted that the proceedes should be donated to the RNLI! We contacted Innishannon House Hotel and booked the function room, 180 people for the 28th November. We organised buses to transport people from Kinsale to the beautiful location of the riverside hotel. The day was spent decorating the room in a casino theme. The night itself was a great success. We enjoyed a nice meal followed by a poker tournament, with a kindly donated 6 month membership for the Carlton Leisure centre to be won! We raised an impressive €1,175 for the RNLI. Thanks to everyone for their support!"
All of us here at Kinsale Lifeboat Station would like to congratulate Hannah, Roisín and Amy for their great drive and wonderful business success. We would like to thank all the students at Kinsale community school for voting for the RNLI too!!
